Tourism

Welcome
The Music Town Markneukirchen is situated in the heart of the Upper Vogtland, between the "Erzgebirge" -Ore Mountains, and the northern parts of the "Fichtelgebirge". It is embedded in an attractive green landscape of slopes and valleys.

The town has a reputation for its more than 350-year old tradition of producing musical instruments. The stringed, plucked, brass and woodwind instruments are made by masters and they spread the reputation of excellent quality around the world.

You are invited to become familiar with the history of producing musical instruments for example through a visit to the Museum of Musical Instruments or to an instrument maker's workshop.

Apart from the production of musical instruments, you can also experience their sound. The annual International Instrumental Competition which takes place in May, the modern Music Hall, the home-grown orchestras and many traditional events offer a diverse program with classical, popular and modern music.

Tourists find a wide variety of offers for active holidays and sports for nature-related relaxing, for example 70 km of marked cycle tracks and trails and in winter prepared cross-country skiing trails through wooded highlands.
